Gears like helmet, protective pads for your knee and elbows and proper clothing are other things to consider.

Learning how to bike the right way comes from setting the saddle or seat right. This will help you find the appropriate height that will give you comfort and ease while driving. Ensure that your seat is neither too high nor too low. If you are unable to reach the pedals, then the saddle is too high. Very high saddles would give you less ability to maneuver your bicycle properly. Very low saddles, on the other hand, can cause you to be tired quickly as you will lose muscle efficiency fast. As you adjust the height of the saddle, sit on it and tilt it a little to check if you can comfortably reach the ground. Those who want to ensure a flat foot on the ground make their bikes a little lower. This gives them a feeling of safety as well.

When it comes to pedaling, select your lead foot. Position one of the pedals using your lead foot. As you push your foot on to the pedal, lift your body up on the bicycle frame and place your other foot on the other pedal. Continue pedaling as you hold firmly on the bars. Some women sit on the saddle of their ladies mountain bikes right away for fear of falling off. Moving forward, carefully lower yourself down the saddle for balance. Move yourself up to gain speed while pedaling. Once you are up on the speed you want comfortably sit on the saddle and keep your eyes on the road as you continue pedaling.

Proper use of the brakes is key if you want to stop as quickly as possible. The front brakes are obviously the most appropriate features of the bike for this. To prevent yourself from jumping off the handlebars, avoid sudden presses on the front brakes. Press and release them gently.
