The first and probably the most essential technique is to flatten your back. Lean your upper body forward and your hips in a rotating forward position. In doing this, you could avoid the "biker back" that most bikers steer clear of.
Keeping your elbows bent is next on the list. Many bikers think that locking their arms is a good thing to do but it's actually not. What you could do instead is to maintain your arms in a solid position.
The third bike riding technique is not to move your shoulders. Moving your shoulders about does not lessen the strain. It is just a waste of your energy, so instead of swaying your body back and forth, minimize your upper body movement.
The fourth bike riding technique is to move your grip often. This way, you could avoid numbness in your hands. This particular technique depends on your riding situation.
The fifth technique is to keep your head up. Not only does this keep you alert from accidents but it will also help align your neck and your back. This can actually prevent strain and discomfort while biking.
The sixth technique is to keep you feet aligned with the pedal axle. To do this, find the widest part of your feet and put the center of it aligned to the pedal.
The seventh and the last bike riding technique is to move your butt. This may sound funny but moving your butt while on the go puts your different muscles to use and some to rest. Moving your butt forward will do more of your quadriceps and moving backwards will do more for your hamstring.
